An eSIM is an electronic SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from a carrier without needing a physical SIM card. You can add, remove, or change networks and data plans instantly. The SIM Profile is delivered to the device over the air (OTA) by scanning a QR Code.

eSIM is available for all eSIM compatible phones, including iPhone* XS, XS Max, XR using iOS 12.1 software and Android Google Pixel 3, 3XL. To activate the KnowRoaming eSIM, please make sure your phone is unlocked. *eSIM on iPhone is not offered in China mainland. In Hong Kong and Macau, only iPhone XS features eSIM.

The KnowRoaming eSIM can be purchased on our website http://esim.knowroaming.co. Once you complete your purchase, you will receive a QR code, on the payment confirmation screen as well as via email.

Follow these steps to add the eSIM to your device:

For iPhone users

  • Go to your device Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add Cellular Plan
  • Scan the QR code provided by KnowRoaming
  • Tap Add Cellular Plan
  • Choose Secondary Label and change the name to KnowRoaming
  • Select the option for ‘Use KnowRoaming for cellular data only’ and tap Continue
  • Select the option for ‘Use Primary as the preferred line’ and tap Done
  • The KnowRoaming eSIM is now ready to be used as your Cellular data plan

For Android users

  • Go to your device Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network
  • Tap Don’t have the SIM card? > Download your SIM > Tap Next
  • Scan the QR code provided by KnowRoaming
  • Tap on Activate
  • Tap on Telna or KnowRoaming

After adding the eSIM to your device, download the KnowRoaming app to activate your package. In the app tap on: Services > Packages > Activate

Take a screenshot of your QR code, send it to another device then scan. Or
You can open your email on a computer and scan the QR code from your mobile device.

Yes, data roaming must be enabled to use the KnowRoaming eSIM.


  • Please go to Settings > Cellular > Turn on “Data Roaming


  • Go to Network & Internet > Mobile Network
  • Tap the active eSIM > Enable roaming

Remember to turn data roaming OFF when not using the KnowRoaming eSIM

You don’t have to scan another QR code to buy additional data. You can go to your KnowRoaming app and purchase suitable data plans from there.

To set your Cellular Data plan back to your home service:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Cellular
  • At the top of the screen tap Cellular Data
  • Select “Primary” to turn on your home data services.

You don’t need to delete the profile from your phone. You can buy new data plans directly in the KnowRoaming app without scanning new QR codes or setting the eSIM profile again.

If you still would like to erase your eSIM, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Cellular
  • Tap the eSIM label you want to erase
  • Tap Remove Cellular Plan
  • Tap the label; it may ask you to sync contacts, select your Primary line and the eSIM label will be erased

Once payment is complete,  you will immediately receive the QR code on the payment confirmation screen. You will also receive an email with your QR code and payment confirmation details.

You can track your usage and remaining data through the KnowRoaming app.

No, QR codes can only be scanned once.

The eSIM plan does not affect the physical card usage. You can continue to use your primary SIM card for voice/SMS services and the KnowRoaming eSIM for data.
